Ryanair CEO Says Musk “Very Welcome” to Invest in Airline
Speaking at a media briefing in Dublin, the Republic of Ireland's capital, on Wednesday, O'Leary said Musk is "very welcome" to invest in Europe's low-cost air carrier. "I think it'll be a very good investment for him."
The Tesla and X (formerly Twitter) owner has floated the possibility of acquiring the airline while branding O'Leary as "insufferable" and "an idiot," following O'Leary's rejection of an offer to use Musk's Starlink Services technology to provide Wi-Fi on flights.
O'Leary brushed off the barbs with characteristic humor. "I have four teenage children, so they regularly call me an idiot and insufferable chimp," said O'Leary. "The good news though -- it has delivered a dramatic increase in footfall coming to the Ryanair website over the last five days."
To further entice Musk toward an investment, O'Leary revealed an unconventional peace offering. "We're sending around to the Twitter offices in Dublin this morning a free flight for Mr. Musk," he said.
"I think he should come and sample the Ryan Air service," he added.
The war of words has paradoxically generated substantial publicity for Ryanair, with the carrier's online traffic surging amid the high-profile feud.
